The two most common moths that we encounter in this area are the Indian meal moth and the Webbing clothes moths.
Indian Meal Moths
Indian meal moths are commonly found in the kitchen because they infest grains, pastas, breads and cereals. Any infested food items should be thrown away and any new items should be carefully inspected for signs of damage.
Treatment for Indian Meal Moths
Treatments for Indian Meal Moths consist of an insecticide application to the areas of activity in the kitchen cabinets, pantry, or other areas where the infested food is stored. Preparation is necessary before the treatment can be performed (see prep sheet below).
Webbing Clothes Moths
Webbing clothes moths are found in bedrooms, closets, living rooms, basements, or attics because they infest wool fabrics, hair, fur, silk, felt and feathers. Clothes moths can remain undetected in a home and significant damage to clothing, bedding, rugs and furniture. Any infested clothes or bedding should be washed to prevent further damage.
Treatment for Clothes Moths
Treatments for Clothes Moths consist of an insecticide application to the areas of activity in the carpets, furniture, closets, or other areas where the infested clothing or materials are stored. Preparation is necessary before the treatment can be performed (see prep sheet below).
