Exclusion for Rodents
Exclusion must be performed thoroughly because rats can enter homes through 1/2” holes and mice only need ¼”. The appropriate materials (concrete, steel wool, and wire mesh) should be used to block rodent entry holes or rodents will just chew their way back in.
Rodents will enter your home typically through:
- Gaps around garage doors
- Exterior doors with gaps wider than 1/4″
- Crawl space vent covers
- Dryer vents
- Utility lines
- Foundation walls
- Gaps between the foundation walls and siding
Baiting/trapping programs for mice will take care of the rodents currently inside and may provide temporary relief, but if the holes are not blocked new rodents will eventually find their way inside and infest your home again in the future.
Any openings on the exterior of the home should be sealed after any baiting is performed to allow the mice or rats to leave the structure before the product takes effect. Any holes in the interior of the home should be sealed immediately to prevent rodent access to the living areas where there may be potential food or water sources.
Our mice exclusion services will include sealing around the utility pipes and small gaps with steel wool and expandable foam where mice are entering the living spaces in search of food and water.
